Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, night crime and general assignment reporter, September 2011 to present: cover breaking news online and for print. Downtime spent pursuing long-term features and making rounds to build sources.  Produced solo coverage of the Chardon High School shooting. Also worked as an intern for the paper from May 2009 to July 2009, copy editing for the zone editions, early Sunday editions and wire desks. Stories appear on post-gazette.com.

The Denver Post,  City Desk intern, June 2011 to August 2011: wrote and pitched stories for denverpost.com and for the paper's print edition.  Occasionally live-Tweeted breaking news.

The Plain Dealer,  Metro intern, May 2010 to August 2010: wrote breaking news stories for cleveland.com and full-length stories for the print edition of the largest paper in Ohio. Produced an average of a story a day.

The Pitt News September 2007 to April 2011: Worked as editor in chief during the 2010-11 school year, overseeing a staff of about 100 people; Served as news editor from April 2009 to April 2010, when I coordinated award-winning coverage of the September 2009 G-20 Summit. Worked as assistant news editor from September 2008 to April 2009 and as a staff reporter covering the crime beat from September 2007 to September 2008.

Lancaster New Era (now the Intelligencer Journal - Lancaster New Era) May 2008 to August 2008, December 2008: Wrote an average of four to five stories a week, compiling more than 65 bylines during the summer, while also learning to shoot video and photos. Only intern invited to return during the December 2008 break.

The Elizabethtown Chronicle February 2006 to August 2006, June 2007 to August 2007: Wrote a minimum of one story per issue and shot photos for the weekly paper.

University of Pittsburgh graduated summa cum laude in May 2011: Majored in English writing with a focus on journalism and French, also earning a certificate in African Studies. GPA: 3.9
